Thanksgiving

Let us give thanks today for our Saviour and all that He has done.  Let us praise His name because He alone is worthy of all praise!  Let us show forth His glory to all people by praising Him in all things!

Ps. 18:49, “Therefore will I give thanks unto thee, O LORD, among the heathen, and sing praises unto thy name.”

Ps. 30:4, 12, “Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness. To the end that my glory may sing praise to thee, and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks unto thee for ever.

Ps. 97:12, “Rejoice in the LORD, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.”

Ps. 107:1, “O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.”

Ps. 119:62, “At midnight I will rise to give thanks unto thee because of thy righteous judgments.”

Eph. 5:4, 20, “Neither filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not convenient: but rather giving of thanks.  Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;”

Col. 3:17, “And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.”

1 Thess. 5:18, “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”

Heb. 13:15, “By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.”

Rev. 11:17, “Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God Almighty, which art, and wast, and art to come; because thou hast taken to thee thy great power, and hast reigned.”

Psalm 119:1-8

1.) ALEPH. Blessed are the undefiled in the way, Who walk in the law of the LORD!

2.)  Blessed are those who keep His testimonies, Who seek Him with the whole heart!

3.) They also do no iniquity; They walk in His ways.

4.) You have commanded us To keep Your precepts diligently.

5.) Oh, that my ways were directed To keep Your statutes!

6.) Then I would not be ashamed, When I look into all Your commandments.

7.) I will praise You with uprightness of heart, When I learn Your righteous judgments.

8.) I will keep Your statutes; Oh, do not forsake me utterly!

Psalm 12

To the Chief Musician.  On an eight-stringed harp.  A Psalm of David.

  1. Help, Lord, for the godly man ceases!
    For the faithful disappear from among the sons of men.
  2. They speak idly everyone with his neighbour;
    With flattering lips and a double heart they speak.
  3. May the Lord cut off all flattering lips,
    And the tongue that speaks proud thing,
  4. Who have said,
    “With our tongue we will prevail;
    Our lips are our own;
    Who is lord over us?”
  5. “For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy,
    Now I will arise,” says the Lord;
    “I will set him in the safety for which he yearns.”
  6. The words of the Lord are pure words,
    Like silver tried in a furnace of earth,
    Purified seven times.
  7. You shall keep them, O Lord,
    You shall preserve them from this generation forever.
  8. The wicked prowl on every side,
    When vileness is exalted among the sons of men.

Thank-you, Lord, that you protect Your own even amidst the fiery times of persecution!

Psalm 11

To the chief musician, A Psalm of David.

  1. In the Lord I put my trust;
    How can you say to my soul,
    “Flee as a bird to your mountain”?
  2. For look! The wicked bend their bow,
    They make ready their arrow on the string,
    That they may shoot secretly at the upright in heart.
  3. If the foundations are destroyed,
    What can the upright do?
  4. The Lord is in His holy temple,
    The Lord’s throne is in heaven;
    His eyes behold,
    His eyelids test the sons of men.
  5. The Lord tests the righteous,
    But the wicked and the one who loves violence His soul hates.
  6. Upon the wicked He will rain coals;
    Fire and brimstone and a burning wind
    Shall be the portion of their cup.
  7. For the Lord is righteous,
    He loves righteousness;
    His countenance beholds the upright.

This has a lot of meaning for us right now!  Those you think love you can just as easily come to hate you because of a stand for truth!  Make sure when you take a stand you are willing to pay the price even so far as to lose beloved friends.
