Award

Normally, I would not worry about whether or not I received an award from anyone but a very close friend of mine actually nominated me.  Her blog is lightinearthenvessels.  They have adopted 8 children from a variety of countries and really show forth what adoption (from a biblical standpoint) is all about.  They have many ups and downs but the Lord is working in them and through them.  They have a blog all about adopting older children. This blog is based on biblical teaching and discipling of children that have come from very hard backgrounds. They are working towards becoming a counselor for parents that adopt!

These are the official blog award rules:

1. The winner can put the logo on his/her blog.
2. Link the person you received your award from.
3. Nominate up to 7 other blogs.
4. Put links of those blogs on yours.
5. Leave a message on the blogs of the people you’ve nominated.

So, here are my nominations, in no particular order:

1. Berean Wife – I have recently come on her blog and she has some very good things to say from a biblical standpoint, as well. The comments are also great to read because her response towards others also show forth the truth of God’s Word! She is not willing to back down on the truth but is very willing to apologize if there is something that is contrary to the Word of God!

2. The Desert Pastor – My husband is definitely one of the blogs I would nominate because of the high quality of writing.  Right now he is going through a series on Worship.  He’s done several parts on worship and is discussing the golden calf of music.  This, I believe, would be very helpful for anyone desiring to worship the Lord in spirit and in truth in every area of their lives!

3. Defending Contending – Here is a blog that defends and contends for the faith. They seek to bring to light those that are not true servants of God. They also bring many other things to the forefront from news that affect Christians to sharing quotes by servants of God. They post many messages from different pastors/teachers that desire to speak forth the Word of God in truth!

I want to thank the Lord for any ability that He has given me because I am not a natural born leader!  I am a natural born follower but the Lord has spoken to my heart in many different ways.  I feel a necessity to share what I have learned through my pilgrimage in the Christian walk.  Whether I am able to help 100 people, 1 person or no one, I still feel that everything I have gone through is worth it all.  Only the Lord keeps the record as to who was encouraged, rebuked or challenged by this blog.  I realize that it is only the Holy Spirit that can change anyone as I know I can’t even change myself without His constant help and guidance every second of the day.  Thanks for taking the time to read!

Worship — God’s Way Not Mine!

July 22, 2008 · 1 Comment

As I have been reading The Desert Pastor’s blog, I have been praying about areas of my life that should be conformed to the image of the Lord Jesus Christ. Doing this, however, has not been an easy task! It is so easy to respond in a fleshly manner (the manner I’m used to doing) instead of a godly manner. Many times my mind struggles against the flesh but the flesh wins out. Why is that? I ask myself. The times I do that is normally when I have not renewed my mind with God’s Word and/or I am following a habit and respond without thinking or praying about the situation first.

We know that worship is NOT just 20 minutes of singing on Sunday (normally called the “Praise and Worship” time). Worship IS glorifying God in every area of your life! Since we cannot do it on our own then it becomes necessary that we go to the ONE Who enables us to do it. The only way we can worship God — HIS WAY — is through us being renewed in our mind regularly.

I am very thankful that the Lord has put many things in our lives recently, including heartbreak, to wake us up to the fact that we were not serving Him but ourselves! May the Lord continue to break our wills, mould us into the image of Christ, and enable us to renew our minds continuously and without ceasing!

Thankful for God’s Discipline when we need it,

Desert Pastor’s wife

More Truths on Worship

July 15, 2008 · Leave a Comment

The Desert Pastor has continued his series on Worship.  I would highly recommend this to you and feel free to pass on the links to others.  Below are the next two links to Parts 6 & 7 in the series.

Part 6 “Which God Do You Worship??” Are we maintaining our distance from the world?  And is Romans 8:28 for just anybody?

Part 7 “Which God Do You Worship??” Why is the Church being lulled to sleep and to its death?

Poison Pills

July 7, 2008 · Leave a Comment

The Desert Pastor has been doing a series on Worship that has been a help to me and will be one to you, if you let it. Below are the links to each part in the series.

Part 1 “Which God Do You Worship??” Do Christians really want to hear the truth?

Part 2 “Which God Do You Worship??” Why is it so hard to apply what we learn?

Part 3 “Which God Do You Worship??” Why is our worship only confined to approximately 3-5 hours per week?

Part 4 “Which God Do You Worship??” What lessons will we have to learn before we are willing to give due honour, glory, and praise to our Saviour alone?

Part 5 “Which God Do You Worship??” How many poison pills are we willing to continue to consume before we realize that true joy and happiness comes from serving the Lord?

Be prepared for another part coming up!

Signs and Wonders

June 4, 2008 · Leave a Comment

The Desert Pastor has written a very encouraging blog about signs and wonders. There are several parts to it and I would encourage you to go there and read what he has to say. There is also more to come besides what he has already written.

Part 1With all of the so-called signs and wonders being found within modern Christianity, I have pondered some time on the question of whether we should even be concerned about signs and wonders.

Part 2 (first part to this one)–So many pastors and members were duped into believing that feelings were a good substitute for living a life which was becoming more like the Lord Jesus Christ.

Part 2 (second part to this one) — History reveals that true revival comes from God and it changes believers more into the image of Christ. It changes churches from looking like the world into looking more like a Bride who is making herself ready for the coming Bridegroom!

Part 3 (first part to this one) — So, let’s see what the Scriptures truly teach – 1) Does the Bible speak of signs and wonders?

Keep tuned because there is more to come!

Mother’s Day

May 11, 2008 · 1 Comment

Mother’s Day is a very special day for all of us because for us to be here we must have had a mother at some point. While some of us are blessed with godly mothers that love us, there are some in this world who do NOT have mothers that love them.

First, let us remember those children who have no mothers due to death.

Second, let us remember all those children whose mothers didn’t love them and they have been taken away due to some kind of abuse! Many of these children have no one to call their own. We are so blessed by our own families and tend to take them for granted. Please pray for these children that have gone through so much within their little lives. They have not only been abused in some way or another but they are no longer able to have a mother called their own. Maybe the Lord will speak to YOUR heart about adopting one of these precious children that need a godly home with parents that love the Lord and will raise them with the true love of Christ!

Third, let us remember the mothers of these precious children as it is a very real possibility they never had a godly mother themselves. Even if they did, the Lord’s grace can reach down and save even them! Please keep these mothers in prayer, as well!

We hope your Mother’s Day is as good and sweet as ours has been! Happy Mother’s Day!
